Playoff Appearances 18 League Championships Coach Don Bucci ranks among the top coaches in the state with 306 wins in 38 seasons of coaching. He has logged 284 wins while at the helm of Cardinal Mooney of Youngstown. Don's list of accomplishments includes Ohio Coach of the Year in 1973. He is the director of District 8 of the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association. He has the unique honor of both having played and coached in the Ohio "All-Star Classic". As an all-state quarterback for the East in 1950, he was picked to lead the North unit and in 1973 Don coached the North squad to a 21-0 win. Forty three of his athletes have garnered all state honors and six have been selected as high school All-Americans. Don was inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches "Hall of Fame" at their annual convention in Washington in June of 1998. In acknowledging his induction, Coach Bucci paid tribute to the quality of football competition in Ohio - that annually, puts the Buckeye state in the national spotlight during the collegiate recruiting season.
